Weekly Review: Jumping into the World of Blogging

I want to begin this post by saying that this is by far the most different class that I have ever taken, in a good way. I am really enjoying this class, because I get so bored with the typical structure of online courses: read this, take this quiz, post in the discussion board, here's your final. I never in a million years thought that I would create a blog, especially in a class about California Literature, but I must say that the experience I've had with this blog so far, seeing how easy it is to operate, makes me want to make a blog of my own outside this class and begin writing about other things because I like it so much.

Apart from enjoying the blogging aspect of this class, I also like the wide variety of assignments that we have each week. One of my favorites this week was the surprisingly the wikipedia trail, and I say surprisingly because the first time I looked at the assignment I thought it would be kind of lame, but I wanted to get the extra credit. Upon actually doing the assignment, however, I really enjoyed it because it shocked me how one simple search on wikipedia and accessing three other links from that could lead to so much more interesting information. I really enjoyed learning about the history of the area that I have grown up in.

I honestly kind of struggled with the Native American style of reading we did this week, but nonetheless I found it interesting and was actually able to decipher some of text and learn some things from it.

I am really enjoying this class so far, and I look forward to the rest of this semester!

  1. I felt the same way. I never did any online classes, but i was expecting video lectures and skype calls. Stepping into this class i thought i had bit off more than I could chew. After some repetition though, i think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm glad you're enjoying the class so far and also hope that you continue to feel that way throughout the semester. Good luck, and keep up with the extra credit, you never know when it'll come in handy. I should take my own advice... LOL.
