I have really enjoyed this class thus far this semester, in fact I think that it might be my favorite course I am currently taking. I really enjoy the reading, especially since it is all based in California, it gives it more of a personal feel when the author is writing about a place you have actually been and grown up around. I have enjoyed almost every single reading that we have had this semester, and although it is the most reading I have done in a single course at LMC, it doesn't really feel overwhelming. It would be nice with my work schedule if we had all week to complete every assignment, since I am often unable to get some of the readings and analysis's done in time because of my schedule, but the majority of the work is due on Sundays which is nice.
I have also really enjoyed reading. I was a little apprehensive after I learned that we were creating a blog and would be posting writings on it multiple times a week, however it has been one of my favorite parts about this class. I don't think that I have done this much writing since AP English back in high school, but it is nice exploring the reading more in depth and writing my own personal thoughts on it rather than just doing the reading and taking a quiz like most classes. This class has inspired me to do more writing, and I think I might even create a separate blog after this course is over and continue writing my thoughts, because it is almost like a form of meditation to sit down and just let your thoughts flow from your mind to your fingers and onto the keyboard. I get in the zone and I actually really enjoy it.
This has been the most differently structured class that I have taken at LMC, and I wish more classes would operate this way. Since I know that the deadlines of reading and writings will not change, I think that I need to try to get the work done for the next week on the weekends, because there have been too many times that I have not been able to get the work done. All in all I really enjoy this class, the reading subjects, and the structure of the writing assignments, and I can't really think of any ways to make it better.
