This was a pretty good week in class, although I must admit that I am very glad that we only have a few weeks left. This course in particular has been some of the most work that I have completed in a single class in recent memory. For instance, my reading notes for my chosen book, The Big Sleep was A LOT of writing. I decided to summarize each chapter separately and in pretty great detail to make it easier to go back and read and know exactly where to go in the story for examples to use in my project coming up the next couple of weeks. It seemed easy enough to do it chapter by chapter, until you realize that there 32 chapters in this book, and I would have to write 11 summaries each week for three weeks. It took me a lot of time to do this, but I am glad that I did it this way because it will make my project a lot easier and I feel like it gave me a really good understanding of the plot of this novel, even though I didn't do a lot of time digging deeper into the text. This is what I hope to accomplish in this final project. I have a good understanding of what happened in the novel, now it is time to discover how these actions tell a bigger story.
Everything else is going pretty good as the semester is coming to an end, I just can't wait to be done and relax for the summer. Usually I try to take a couple of summer classes, but this summer I think I am just going to take a break. Between working full time, spending 3-4 hours in traffic each day, finding time for my family, and school on top of that, I am beat and ready for a well deserved break from school. We are almost there guys, lets finish strong!
Wow you sound like you really have a lot on your plate! Its good that you are allowing yourself a time to relax. I agree about the workload of this particular class. I think this class should be labeled as a CA Lit Analysis with a heavy emphasis on writing class instead of just CA Lit. I would have loved to read more and written less.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful summer! Three more weeks! Woot!
